The Highline Ballroom
Great venue. I cam here on a Friday night to celebrate a friend's birthday and we really enjoyed ourselves. The music is great although there's not much of a mix (pretty much all hip hop). The crowd was diverse and well as for the drinks, it's NYC so expect to spend $15+ for a drink. I would definitely return to this venue as myself and the other in my party really enjoyed themselves.

I've seen probably 30 shows here over the years, and it's been going downhill in the last year or two. Two stars: one for the good performances they get (Zoe Keating, God is an Astronaut, Lunasa, etc.), and one for finally having cider on the menu. Nice work. Now, the rest. This place has always had an identity crisis as to what it wants to be - restaurant, nightclub, or music space. In the last year, they've gutted the dinner menu to now only have a few paltry offerings, all of which aren't really great. It's probably better to go across the street to Chelsea Market for food before a show. We saw a show the other night and were seated on the second floor, and it was pretty awful due to the staff there. The performance was pretty quiet music, but the staff were talking loudly and banging things around. At one point towards the end of the show, someone started running a dishwasher in the bar. Really? Poor form. So yeah, I think it's time to go see shows at other places when possible. Oh well.
