Overall Guest Satisfaction
What, a listing but no reviews? I first learned of this Quaker meetinghouse via a tourist map, and I would often walk by it when I was exploring around Dupont Circle and Kalorama. The stone meetinghouse was built in 1932 by a wealthy friend of President Herbert Hoover, and Hoover did attend Meeting here when he was president. There's a lovely garden space behind a wrought iron fence. If the gates are open, pass through the garden. If you're lucky the large meeting room itself will be open, and you can enjoy the silence and the simple Quaker design and listen for the inner promptings of the spirit.

Friends Meeting of Washington (FMW) is a large, urban community of Quakers and non-Quakers. Our Meeting House, where we worship together, is located on Florida Avenue near Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. Because it is located in the nation’s capital, FMW is an especially dynamic Meeting. Our community includes visitors from all over the world, activists trying to make the world a better place, and others seeking to discern their spiritual path within the all-embracing approach of the Society of Friends.
